We hope everyone had a blessed and happy thanksgiving! We are all so thankful to be able watch all your amazing children!

Stone Soup

This week the children  made Stone Soup.  They reenacted the story as they made the soup.  Afterwards they all got to eat a delicious bowl of stone soup.

1. For all of you that do not know the story of Stone Soup, you can now read it.

   Some travelers come to a village, carrying nothing more than an empty cooking pot. Upon their arrival, the villagers are unwilling to share any of their food stores with the hungry travelers. Then the travelers go to a stream and fill the pot with water, drop a large stone in it, and place it over a fire. One of the villagers becomes curious and asks what they are doing. The travelers answer that they are making "stone soup", which tastes wonderful, although it still needs a little bit of garnish to improve the flavor, which they are missing. The villager does not mind parting with a few carrots to help them out, so that gets added to the soup. Another villager walks by, inquiring about the pot, and the travelers again mention their stone soup which has not reached its full potential yet. The villager hands them a little bit of seasoning to help them out. More and more villagers walk by, each adding another ingredient. Finally, a delicious and nourishing pot of soup is enjoyed by all.
   

It's great to have Shantel working for Sunshine Academy again! She worked at our Magna site for about two years and now she is our new preschool at our West Valley site. The kids love her youthful and energetic personality. The other day she made a fun Fall collage with the kids. We are happy to have her with us!

Trunk-or-Treat

The Truck or Trick was a big hit.  Many of the teachers participated, decorating their trucks and had plenty of candy to hand or to all the kiddies. Magna and West Valley schools attended. It was a great fun and safe way to celebrate Halloween! Thanks to everyone who came and participated. We hope you all had a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

The West Valley school went up the canyon and had lots of fun playing in the beautiful leaves.

Pumpkin Patch!

It's getting closer to Halloween and children are getting so excited. The children from West Valley and Magna joined each other and attended the pumpkin patch. They had a great time picking out their very own pumpkins to take home.

Magna gets a Makeover!

Magna is getting a makeover! We just repainted the building but, that's just the beginning. We are also getting a new sandbox, trikes, new toy shelves.... The outside playground will be getting lots of new additions. We will be posting pictures as the changes happen. We are excited for all these new changes and think they will make for more fun and more learning!

We are getting ready for the holidays!  We have a puppet show scheduled, a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch, Truck or Trick and lots of spiders, bats, and skeleton arts and craft projects planned for October.

We are getting our office remolded. Now we can see who's at the front door!  So fun.  We will be getting a new office desk and a new painting for over Reagan's desk in their soon.  :)

Pink!

Today we had everyone wear pink in the support against breast cancer. We didn't talk specifically about the disease to the children but we did talk about our Moms and Grandmas and how much we love them.

The children at our Magna site are getting ready for Halloween.  Look at those scary spiders!!

The children had fun today making spider headbands. They learned that spiders have 8 legs!!

Come check out our newly remolded West Valley site!!! We are busy working and learning about spiders,owls and bats in our preschool class.  The children are looking forward to taking a field trip to the local pumpkin patch.!!!

Karlene's Baby Shower!!!

 This is Barbie, Karlene's sister in-law, she hosted Karlene's shower.

Congratulations to Karlene!! She is due to have a little girl in November.  Karlene,  is our director in Alpine.  She plans on taking a 6 week maternity leave of absence after the baby is born, then plans on returning to Sunshine Academy.

At Sunshine Academy the children have been learning all about apples.  At the West Valley site they made a tunnel and pretended to be worms and crawled through the apple tunnel.  Reagan, the director, told them the story about Johnny Appleseed and everyone had a great time!
